Today, on Divine Mercy Sunday, the Church places us in the Upper Room with the disciples—still marked by fear, still wounded by the memory of the Cross. And into that locked room, Jesus comes—not with reproach, but with peace:

“Peace be with you.”

This is the first message of mercy: God does not come to condemn, but to restore.

Today the Church proclaims the greatest truth of our faith: Christ is risen! Alleluia!

The Gospel tells us that early in the morning Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and found the stone rolled away. Peter and the beloved disciple ran to the tomb. They saw the empty tomb and they began to believe.
